World over just the
name of Mt. Everest is a great
attraction to visit this region. Not
just the tallest mountain in the
world, this region is also home to
the famous mountaineering community
known as the Sherpas the world over.
With the whole region dotted with
Sherpa villages, this alpine region
offers a perfect blend of cultural
and adventure experience. The aroma
of the incense coming out of every
dwelling, the sound of chanting
hymns coming out from ancient
monasteries, the blessings from the
lamas and the ever smiling village
people invoke a deep sensation in
every human heart.
Just a half an hour flight takes to
the heartland of the Sherpas, Lukla
from where begins the real adventure
into the highland of the Himalayan
mountains. Few days walking from
villages to villages, in the Everest
Highway, one reaches Namche Bazzar,
a very lively and active market that
caters to the whole region. This Bazzar is the gateway to the
Everest. Following the footsteps of
many great trekkers and summiteers,
with every step one approaches many
mountains like Amadablam, Cho oyu
…… all dancing to the tune of the
complete silence lased in their
beautiful white robe.
Depending upon the physical
conditions and requirements of a
trekking group, the approach to the
mountains can be from various sides
and up to various points.
For an experienced adventure seeker,
this region also has some very
famous trekking peaks such as Island
Peak, Mera Peak as well some of the
highest and beautiful mountain
passes such as Cho La Pass, Tashi
Lapcha Pass, Amphu Lapcha pass, Mera
La, etc. |
