Just north to the
valley of Kathmandu a few hours bus
ride brings one to the Langtang
region. The most easily accessible
trekking route that begins just
north to the capital and can end
just on the outskirts of the valley.
Homeland of different ethnic groups,
like the Tamangs, Brahmins and
Chhetri, the trail takes to the
Langtang valley, walking from
villages to villages. Just on the
north to this region lies the
Tibetan plateau, thus a lot of
Tibetan cultural influence can be
seen in the lifestyle of the
villagers. Gosaikund, a sacred lake
situated at 4,300 meters makes this
trek a very popular pilgrimage trail
for the locals. |
