Royal Bardia
National Park lies in the western
lowland of Nepal, covering an area
of 968 sq. km. This habitat of the
Royal Bengal Tiger is famous the
world over as the safe haven for
these biggest of the cats. It
sustains an eco system that is home
to many other big mammals and
different species of wild animals
and birds.
In 1997, an area of 327 sq. km
surrounding the park was declared as
a buffer zone which consists of
forests and private lands. The
buffer zone is jointly managed by
the park and local communities.
Together they initiate community
development activities and manage
natural resources in the buffer
zones.
It has both a flight and land
connection to Katmandu, the capital
city. For the real jungle
experience, accommodation is
provided in cottages built in the
local Tharu style. There is no
electricity however kerosene lamp
and candle light is provided. There
are double or single room with
outside bath and toilet. There is
not electricity in the cottage. A
restaurant inside the resort will
cater foods and drinks with
tantalizing tastes. Everest
