Jokhang Temple

 

Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu. Transfer to Hotel. Time permitting half day sightseeing tour of some Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swoyambhunath.

Day 02 : Full day sightseeing of Pashupatinath, Boudhanath & Patan.  Overnight in hotel.

Day 03 : Early morning flight from Kathmandu (1300 m) to Lhasa (3650 m)
Arrival in Gongor Airport and tranfer to the hotel in Lhasa after 2 hrs drive. Rest of the day free acclimatization.

Lhasa: The capital of Tibet, which has always remained the mysterious forbidden city throughout the history. Just recently opened for tourism.

Day 04 : Full day sightseeing in Lhasa of Sera Monastery, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Market.
Sera Monastery: This is one of the three largest monasteries of Gelugpa, sits at the foothills of Tatipu., Although just a few hundred monks now live here, there were over 5,000 during its heyday.
Jokhang Temple: Built some 1300 years ago, Jokhang is probably Tibet's first religious institution. Situated in the heart of Lhasa, this is one of the holiest shrines in Tibet, a must pilgrimaget for every Tibetan.
Barkhor Market: Situated in the Tibetan part of Lhasa, Barkhor is a circular street, that encircles the Jokhang temple. The oldest street in Lhasa which still preserves its traditional outlook.

Day 05 : Sightseeing in Lhasa of Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery.

The Potala Palace : This 14 storey palace is the winter palace of the Dalai Lama since the17th century. It symbolizes its central role in the Tibetan Buddhism and its development over the centuries.
Drepung Monastery : Drepung Monastery, the largest and richest monastery in Tibet. Founded in 1416 it had more than 10,000 monks.

Day 06 : Full day sightseeing tour of Ganden Monastery and Norbulingkha.
Ganden Monastery: It lies 45 kilometers (28 miles) east of Lhasa. It was established in 1409 by Tsong Khapa, the founder of Gelugpa sect.
Norbu Lingka: It was built in the middle of the 18th century and served as the Summer Palace of Dalai Lama.

Day 07 : Fly from Lhasa (3650m) to Kathmandu (1300m)
Early morning breakfast and 2 hrs drive to the Gongar airport to catch a Lhasa/ Kathmandu flight. Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel. Possibility of optional sightseeing in Kathmandu.

Day 08 : Early morning breakfast and 2 hrs drive to the Gongar airport to catch Lhasa/ Kathmandu flight. Arrival in Kathmandu and drive to Nagarkot.

Day 09 : Drive back to Kathmandu and en route visit Bhaktapur

Day 10 : Free day for individual activities with possibility of optional sightseeing and Mt. Flight. Evening Nepali dinner with cultural program.

Day 11 : Free until Departure time. Transfer to Airport for onwards flight. End of the Services.
