Ganden / Samye Trek in Tibet

Ganden Trek In Tibet

 

Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu. Transfer to Hotel. Time permitting half day sightseeing tour of some Kathmandu Durbar Square & Swoyambhunath..

Day 02 :Full day sightseeing of Pashupatinath, Boudhanath & Patan.  Overnight in hotel.

Day 03 : Early morning flight from Kathmandu (1300 m) to Lhasa (3650 m)
Arrival in Gongor Airport and tranfer to the hotel in Lhasa after 2 hrs drive. Rest of the day free acclimatization.

Day 04 : Full day sightseeing in Lhasa of Sera Monastery, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Market.

Day 05 : Sightseeing in Lhasa of Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery.

Day 06 : Drive to Ganden (4500m). After breakfast drive to Ganden and visit Ganden monastery established by Tshong Khapa, the founder of Gelug Pa sect.

Day 06 : Trek from Ganden to Yama Do. The trekking begins at the highest point on the Ganden Kora. En route we pass through an ancient Hepu village. Later in the day we pass through Ani Pagong, a narrow bottleneck in the trail and former site of a nunnery and end in Yama Do.

Day 07 : Trek from Yama Do to Tsotup Chu Valley. In the morning trek starts en route crossing many adventurous places and ends to Tsotup Chu Valley.

Day 08 : Trek from Tsotup Chu Valley to Herder's Camp. Today we follow the Tsotup Chu down through its tributary and head towards the Chitu La pass and descend down in a beautiful place Herder's Camp, one of the field surrounding the stream.

Day 09 : Trek from Herder's Camp to Wango. During the trek to Wango one can see more than 15 types of scrub trees, blooming rhododendrons, and vast meadow. After passing through this wondrous landscape we will trek passing the Changtang village and Yamalung Hermitage. Yamalung is an ancient and holy Buddhist meditation site. Later in the day we join the Samye valley along the babbling tributary stream.

Day 10 : Trek from Wango to Samye and drive to Tsetang. In the morning we will admire the widespread views from Pisha. The entire Samye valley can be seen from here. After reaching the summit of Dragmar we can explore the numerous temples nearby. Visit Samye monastery, which represents the Buddhist universe. At the end of the day we will drive to the Tibet's third largest city, Tsethang.

Day 11 : Explore the Yarlung Valley. After breakfast trek to Yarlung Valley. This majestic area is widely believed to be the cradle of all of Tibetan civilization. The valley of the tombs is located at the origin of the Tibetan people. You can visit Yumbulakhang, which is an amazing architectural site perched on a cliff. It is one of the oldest buildings in all of Tibet.

Day 12 : Fly from Lhasa (3650m) to Kathmandu (1300m). Early morning breakfast and 2 hrs drive to the Gongar airport to catch a Lhasa / Kathmandu flight. Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to Nagarkot.

Day 13 : Drive back to Kathmandu and en route visit Bhaktapur. Evening Nepali Dinner with Cultural program.

Day 14 : Free until Departure time. Transfer to Airport for onwards flight. End of the Service.
